The school year seems to be off to a good start. We are
approaching our first History Twiz. Don't let the name fool you - it
is really a test on the first two chapters of History. The students
have typed fill in the blank notes for each chapter to help them
study. I have discovered that when I give a ready assignment, very
few students are reading carefully enough to enter into a discussion in
class. That may cause a problem on the test...!

EXTRAS Included in the intermediate grade curriculum are elective learning activities that are both fun and ministry minded. Sixth graders should consider making all of these activities a part of their sixth grade experience. Elementary Band. Band for elementary students meets once each week with Mr. Gingery during a study hall. Drama Club. Drama meets twice each week with Mr. Boston during study halls. The Drama Club presents dramatic readings, skits, and plays throughout the year. Homemakers Club. Girls meet twice each week to learn cooking, hostessing, and various crafts. Mrs. Rebecca Sheldon will be overseeing this for us this year. Guardsmen. The military style drill team meets during study hall twice each week with Mr. Wuestner. In their Marine-look uniforms, the Guardsmen lead flag-raisings, perform in special chapels, do half-time shows at basketball games, and march in a Veterans' Day Parade.
